It sounds like except for the extra shallow depth of field all other pros point to the newer lens for the most part. Right now there’s two XF 35mm lenses available and I reckon most owners would be better-served by the newer f2 model. I think that’s related more to the focal length than Fuji making progress with their engineering, but I figure it’s worth asking about what you noticed with the 35 f2. Even at f2, the Fujifilm 35mm can create sharp shots with creamy backgrounds photographers lust after.

Then there’s build quality as while the XF 35mm f2 looks simple, it’s the model that enjoys the benefit of weather-sealing. An inner focus system, which moves the small and lightweight lens elements, is combined with a stepping motor to produce quiet, accurate and fast autofocus – a must for all snap shooters that need to capture a spontaneous moment. While it’s not really going to give you a real up-close view of anything, nor a very wide view, I consider the 50mm to be sort of an everyday lens and it is especially nice for someone that also shoots a lot of portraits, friends or family but more importantly, it’s a great lens to travel and landscape. Last year I bought an X-Pro1 and reviewed it on this channel, I wanted to be able to judge the camera fairly, so my first lens was the same Fujinon 23mm F2 lens I was already accustomed to with all of the X100 cameras. Onto the lens design: this lens features one of the things I don’t like about some of the Olympus lenses, namely that the front of the lens is smaller than the back of the lens, leaving it with a deflated look. How this lens handles lens flare might be seen as positive or negative, depending on if you like flare in your pictures. bigger or camera-original © file to explore on your computer (mobile devices rarely display the full resolution data properly).

Give this lens golden color light and you will get some of the most rich and vibrant images possible, just as the XF 35mm f/1.meters or 35 cm, so if you are into mid-sized to full face portraits this can do both and anything in between. With a 0% finance, no deposit and monthly repayments by direct debit this option is simple to manage. extensively on all bodies up to the XE2 and speed was always so so but with this little black (my preference) monster with the XT1 4. R is one of those incredible lenses that gives a fantastic rendering with a certain “something” that just can’t be translated into performance charts. If you are looking to save a couple of hundred dollars and want the image quality of the XF version, this may be worth a look.

close-focus distance, the same macro reproduction ratio, the same rounded 9-blade diaphragms stopping down to f/16 and both have 9 elements in 6 groups, with two aspherical elements each. After reading your comments, especially around how silent the lens is without losing anything in rendering, I’ll be swapping the f1. Fujifilm has taken the right step forward with this lens design and it also solves all the problems that many of their lenses suffer from, such as very loose aperture rings, no weather sealing, and slow AF. The optical construction of 9 elements in 6 groups (including two aspherical elements) achieves the perfect balance of high image quality and compact size. Being a 50mm-ish the lens is extremely versatile and is great for portraits, street or general usage. But, Fujifilm seems to be taking the right step forward with this new design, so you can purchase this lens knowing it will be good for years to come.

So shooting for sun stars, or nice street light stars will yield not the best results unless you’re willing to sacrifice some sharpness by stopping down to f11 and f16. The Fujinon XF 35mm f/2 R WR lens is a “standard” prime lens on Fujifilm X cameras, giving a full-frame equivalent focal length of about 52mm. Consenting to these technologies will allow us to process data such as browsing behavior or unique IDs on this site.Better yet, it fits perfectly in a pocket and will not bother you for walking around during a shoot or for travel, when you want to carry a couple of lenses. I followed you on twitter and instagram many days ago, so for sure I will be watching your photography more often than only when new post will come to your blog.
